Josh Wood Colour Hair Care Range

They say that the hair is an extension of your personality and I think this is so true. I mean, when I'm having a fun month, I'll tint my hair pink. But then in winter, I'll go a shade darker, and in the summer, I like to go light.

I have been blonde my whole life though. Starting out natural - I have a dull blonde natural colour - but then going lighter as I got older as my ashy locks left me feeling a little boring. At the moment, my hair is really light blonde in a balayage style and is hard to maintain. Going lighter blonde means trying to combat the yellowing that comes with it.

And with the fact that we recently went on holiday and I spent most of my time in the sun, sea and chlorine, it's safe to say that brassiness arrived at my doorstep and left my hair looking awful, and horribly dry too.

When Josh Wood Colour contacted me to try out some of their products, made specifically for hair like mine, I really wanted to put them through their paces, using them on my post-holiday dry, brassy hair.

Both the shampoo and conditioner are formulated with shade-specific ingredients to leave hair feeling clean, soft, smooth and radiant. You get the options of choosing blonde or brunette, and then whether you have fine hair, or hair that is prone to frizz. I went for frizzy blonde in both the shampoo and conditioner.

I was also sent the Everything Mask which was created to lock-in colour, add shine, hydrate and condition hair, the Everything Mask is the ultimate treatment for all. If used on freshly coloured hair it will lock in the pigment, and can also be used as a weekly treatment to give your hair that deep condition.

You can also mix with the Shade Shot to create a colour-refreshing gloss as your shade starts to fade. For this, I was sent a Icy Blonde Shade Shot for a bright, cool blonde finish. You can also choose champagne blonde for that warm tonal look, Chestnut Brunette to add a chocolatey look, or Smoky Brunette for a cool, brunette finish.

I've been using all of these items for the past few weeks, to see how they get on with my hair. All the products work really well with my hair, getting rid of frizz, and adding shine. Josh Wood shampoo contains advanced UV filters to prevent fade and natural anti-oxidants to keep blonde hair healthy, and both the shampoo and conditioner have a yummy citrus scent that is really different to other brands.

My personal favourite has been the Everything Mask mixed with the Shade Shot though, Mixing equal parts of both, it combined to make a bold purple shade. I gently glided it through my hair with the enclosed gloves, and left the mixture on for the time stated. It works. It toned my hair down. It got rid of the yellow. It got rid of the brassiness. And the fact that it's mixed with the mask means that it doesn't dry the hair out, it actually hydrates it.

Josh Wood Colour has a great range of hair care products, and ones that have worked well for my hair. The blonde shampoo and conditioner has really helped to tame the frizz, and the mask has given me some smooth tresses whilst that shade shot really did give me the icy cold tone.
