My Monthly Favourites - Health And Food

Last month saw us bring in 2020, a new decade, and a new chance to treat ourselves right. I mean, surely the one person we should treat the best, is ourselves. But that's not always the case. Love, life and everything in between gets in the way and leaves us being left till last.

And so this month I am focusing on health and wellbeing products. Those that are ideal for us mums, us women, and even maybe a way to eat better without losing out on things we love...

Firstly, I wanted to mention that we're not all the same, we like and dislike things, and have beliefs of our own. If, for instance, you are vegan, then some of these items wont be for you, but I just wanted to add a little about how you can make sure you are getting the right nutrients whilst being a vegan by having a vegan test. This test checks for possible nutritional deficiencies vegans may encounter if their plant-based diet is off-balance. If you do want to give it a try, then have a 15% off code that you can use at Health Labs so that you can make sure that your intake is up to scratch.

Designed exclusively for feminine hygiene needs, Betafem are trusted feminine healthcare products formulated for women. The Betafem range includes a luxurious foam and liquid wash that provides gentle protection against common feminine discomforts that is suitable for everyday use to help you feel clean, confident and healthy after every wash. These products are dermatologically tested and are mildly fragranced and a colour-free formula which means they are suitable for even the most sensitive parts of the female body.

It seems that the amount of fruit and veg we need to consume, is going up by the month at the moment, We were once told we needed to eat 5 per day, and then 7, and now it's 10, and to make sure we eat these superfoods daily. Bioglan Superfoods, an easy way to get these much needed superfoods, that give your body natural vitamins and minerals, into your daily diet and hassle free. Bioglan Superfoods powders are super easy to use, just two teaspoons in your regular smoothie, or on your cereal to set you up for the day, You can even pop them in your recipes as they're ideal for the whole family. Super Protein is and adaptogenic blend powered with protein, filled with ashwagandha, maca, ginseng and schisandra and plant-based pea and rice protein. Whereas Beauty Protein is a vegan, collagen-boosting blend of colourful berries and plant-based pea and rice protein powder which has been enhanced with hyaluronic acid, bamboo extract, biotin, vitamin C and amino acids.

CBD has seen a surge in popularity of late, but there is still much confusion surrounding its properties and benefits. The plant itself has been used medically for thousands of years and can be highly beneficial to our bodies by helping to improve a variety of issues including anxiety and pain as well as helping with sleep and aiding the immune system. Combine the CBD with specially selected vitamins, minerals and herbs, such as Naturopathica CBD+ Turmeric, can have specific benefits, and is a great way to get your daily CBD, plus a supplement, all in one. CBD + Turmeric Capsules contain a concentrated dose of full spectrum CBD, plus Curcumin & Vitamin C, which contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones and cartilage.

For the chocolate lovers amongst us, there is nothing worse than trying to stop yourself eating something nice every now and then. And Pati & Coco is a great way to have a divine multi-layered, multi-textured chocolate dessert without the guilt, as they come in handy little portions, a 80g glass pot, ready to be eaten. Available in 4 different flavours, there's sure to be one that will delight your taste buds. I must admit, the experience of eating one of these was wonderful. Cracking through a layer of fine tempered dark chocolate, to find the patisserie folds of luscious ganache and delicate sheets of chocolate underneath, ending with a satisfyingly crunchy biscuit layer at the base.

And then there's that feeling of wanting a chocolate bar when you see the kids devouring one. Guylian have released new 100g bars, each containing x4 individually wrapped 25g mini bars are just the thing as  they are a little of what you fancy at under 140 calories per 25g bar. The new bars are available in four delicious flavours: Creamy Milk, Premium Dark 72%, Hazelnut and Salted Caramel. Plus, each mini bar is encased within a resealable and recyclable envelope, and sales support social and environmental causes; Project Cocoa and Project Seahorse.

Ten Acre offer a range of delicious hand-cooked crisps that are vegan-friendly, gluten-free and dairy free and come in a range of quirky flavours including The Secret of Mr Salt, When Hickory Got BBQ’d, The Day Sweet and Sour Became Friends, The Amazing Adventure of Salt & Vinegar, When Chilli Got Sweet and The Story of When the Cheese Met the Onion. And if you love popcorn, Ten Acre makes two tasty vegan-friendly flavours you’ll love. Choose from Aunty Winifred’s Sweet & Salty Popcorn and Lucia Popperley’s Cappuccino Popcorn. Available from independent retailers nationwide.

With less than 5% sugar, a great source of calcium and made using British milk, Shaken Udder milkshakes are a great way to drink milk with a cheeky flavour added in. Available in six delicious flavours: Vanillalicious, Salted Caramel, Chocolush, Top Banana, Strawberries & Cream and Ooh La Latte, they’re full of essential vitamins including vitamin B12. My favourite is Ooh La Latte as I am definitely a coffee drinker, and this gives me a way of getting that latte flavour of energy boosting Arabica beans, whilst also in-taking British milk.

Perfect for health-conscious mums, Real Good Ketchup is made with 100% natural ingredients, naturally occurring sugars and with over 75% less sugar and 78% less salt than the market leader. Made from Mediterranean tomatoes, it has no hidden, plus it’s allergen-free and vegan-friendly. Available in an easy-to-serve 100% BPA free recyclable squeezy bottle, just one 15g serving delivers 13mg of Lycopene and is a source of Vitamin C. You could also try the Real Good Smokey BBQ Ketchup which has an amazing natural Hickory & Oak smoked water from the deep South of Tennessee and 80% less salt than other Smokey and BBQ ketchups.
