What Can Cosmetic Dentistry Fix?

Nowadays, cosmetic dentistry is more popular than ever - it can range from whitening and shaping to closing spaces and replacing teeth. There are many ways in which to improve your smile using cosmetic dentistry, it's just a case of finding the right solution for you.

So, if you're looking for cosmetic dentistry Tampa, then you have come to the right place, as I have all the info on what options you have when it comes to improving that smile. It's just a case of working out what works for you, and speaking to your dentist to make sure you're having the right treatment.

Teeth Whitening
Over time, teeth can become stained or discoloured, and need teeth whitening to bring back that pearly smile. The process of having your teeth whitened is usually done in the dental suite, but you also have options to use a take home one too. A special mouthpiece will be made to fit to your teeth and then whitening solution is placed inside and left for varying amounts of time. The benefit of doing it at the dentist is that it will usually only take 1 or 2 sessions to get your desired results, where at home, it could take between 2 to 4 weeks.

Probably the most famous amongst celebrities, if you want those perfect white and straight teeth, then this is a good option for you. These custom made veneers are typically made of porcelain and cover the front side of the teeth to change their colour and shape. These are ideally suited to people who have spaces between their teeth, crooked or poorly shaped teeth, or ones that have been permanently stained and that whitening won't work on. Made in the lab, veneers are made perfectly to fit in your mouth, so you made need multiple visits to make sure you get that perfect smile.

Crowns are basically a cap that completely cover a tooth, restoring a normal shape and appearance to your tooth. These can be used for a variety of reasons, but mainly for medical ones which a veneer wouldn't work for. To cover a tooth that's had a root canal procedure, a tooth with a large filling, or to protect a weak tooth. Again, a crown is made for you so can take some time to get the perfect one, but the best bit is that permanent crowns can have a long life if you take good care of them. I find, using an electric toothbrush is the best way to get a thorough clean.

Implants require an involved and expensive cosmetic dentistry procedure but are a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. A surgeon would implant these surgically into the jawbone. Titanium meta is usually used to fuse to the jawbone, with a crown over the top to give the tooth like appearance.

Lastly, you could opt to have braces fitted. I had braces when I was younger, to straighten up my teeth, and know just how amazing they can work. As an adult, you have the option to go for the 'invisible' type ones, so they aren't on show. Usually braces would be fitted when you have great teeth that just need straightening up. The are fixed to each individual teeth and slowly work to pull the teeth straight. Various appointments are needed, over time, to alter the fit and make sure they keep working.

What's most important when it comes to your mouth though, is that you take care of your teeth, your gums and you whole mouth. Cosmetic dentistry may still be needed anyway, but if you have good teeth that have been looked after, you'll have more options of what can be done to give you a perfect smile.
